The B-Hive is the brainchild of voice actor Kay Bess.
Kay studied Meisner Technique at The Ruskin School in Santa Monica, and is a member of The Actor’s Co-Op Theater Company in Hollywood. She was raised in Santa Barbara, California and moved to Los Angeles at the age of 20 to study theater arts. She trained in the BFA acting program at The University of Southern California and, years later, studied Philosophy at UCLA. Kay is also a writer, singer, and poet.
While her creative interests are varied, for the last thirty years Kay’s focus and true creative passion has been voice over. She’s been heard on gazillions of TV and radio commercials for clients including McDonald’s, Motel 6, Yoplait, Hidden Valley Ranch, Kaiser Permanente, Apple Computers, Jergen’s, Toyota, Hyundai, Big O Tires, Oster Small Appliances, Curves Fitness, Sears, and Southern California Edison. She’s done promos for every major television network as well as cable stations CNN, Fox News, The Disney Channel, Comedy Central, FearNet, SyFy, and CTV News Canada. She has narrated documentaries airing on HGTV, The Discovery Channel, WE Women’s Entertainment, The Learning Channel, and can still be heard as the voice of the wildly popular Property Brothers TV series on HGTV (seasons 1-4) which she counts among her favorite jobs to date. She is the voice of Lara Croft’s nemesis, Ana, in Rise of the Tomb Raider; Queen Cumulus in Skylanders: SuperChargers, and a multitude of voices in both Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Mass Effect: Andromeda.
Her daughter is the love of her life.
